Scandinavian Festival

August 16th Matt, Ben, and I went to Andrea and Jeff's to watch Coraline after church. Jeff fell asleep within like, 5 minutes, so he just went to bed. After the movie Andrea, Ben, and I wanted to go to the Scandinavian Festival, it was the last day for it. Matt didn't want to go though so he drove home and was going to pick us up when we were done. Oh and around 11:00 am these people came to look at our house so my dad showed them around.

We walked there and saw this little tent area where they had some dancing. I took a video for you guys since some of you don't know what this festival is like. You should watch the whole thing cause it's kinda cool. Oh yeah, and Ben pointed out to me that two of the boys dancing go to our school. I can't really point them out to you since it's kinda hard to tell in the video. Their names are Karl and Stephen (pronounced stefan) They were in Language Arts with us. They're the kind of boys that get straight A's and get real disappointed with a B. Their mom even stays in the class with Karl and helps him with his work so he can do a really good job, when really, she's doing most of the work. It's kinda funny.

Andrea and I saw these cool necklaces. I wanted to buy one but they're like $15.00 each. Oh and whoever knows what the cartoon show Avatar the last Airbender is (Salgado's) don't some of these necklaces remind you of Katara's?

There is a windmill in the middle of it all and Andrea and Ben were trying to look like tourists. The first picture is a fail picture because they're too far away, then we retook it. I will show you both of them. Haha, you can barely see the windmill. But they do have a good "tourist" pose.

Here's the better one. Although Ben is facing the wrong way. We can't do anything right.

Then Ben wanted one of himself as a tourist.

This is a cool clock they put in Junction City a while ago. It's not part of the festival. We call it the "Peter Pan clock."

I took a lot of pictures for you people who have never been to this festival. So enjoy them :)

See that little brown building? That place sells Aebleskivers, they're really good. There is ALWAYS a really long line. You can see it here. But that wasn't the end of it, there were more people I just couldn't fit them into the camera lol. You can't see her, but my friend Heather is in this picture. She also goes to my school.

Ben has a tradition to always get cotton candy and a sno cone. So he got one and Andrea and I waited for him. She wanted a picture of me so she told me to look cute. I don't call this cute but she thinks it is. (Ben is in the background buying his sno cone..I know sno is spelled with a "w" at the end but they spelled it without. I just didn't want you guys to think I didn't know how to spell)

Ben with his sno cone. It looks more like "sno in a cup" than a cone.

Vikings walk around. I used to be scared of them when I was younger. Everytime we'd go to the festival I would think to myself, "please don't come over here."

Andrea was looking for a place to get something to eat so her and I walked around while we waited for Ben (still in line for his sno cone) We saw this stand that is shaped like a lemon. I didn't know it was a lemon, I for some reason thought it was a football helmet. I guess it had always been there it was just my first time seeing it.

It STILL looks like a helmet to me, LOL.

They randomly have rock climbing there.

Can you pronounce that name? Cause I can't.

Cool wood carvings.

This is where they sell puppets.

Look it's Peter Pan :D

The puppet on the right of Peter Pan looks like a baby, or a doctor. It's confusing.

We passed by this shop that put your name on this picture and it says something like, "Catie's room." They have some up so you can see and get your name on one, and Andrea and I found one that said, "Vicky's room" with Ariel on it so I took a picture cause my Aunt Vicki doesn't like girly stuff. I thought about buying it for her but it was over $10.00 and I know she wouldn't like it so I'd waste my money.

That sign says "Fairytales" on it. I think kids go in there to hear stories, but I don't know for sure.

When we were looking at the shops we saw this troll dancing by people, then we asked for it to come over and had Ben take a picture with it.

You see that picture in the backround where you stick your face in? Well we took some of those pictures. There was a troll one and we all made a funny face.

This is really cool art. But I don't know if you can see it good enough.

Ben got his cotton candy and then we watched more dancing cause I wanted more videos.

Andrea, Amy, and I used to dance in the festival too. I always danced with this girl named Crystal and she was so crazy, she would spin us around really fast and one time we almost fell off stage.

Andrea's friend Megan from school was dancing in it, so after the dances she said hi to her. While they were talking I saw a troll up on stage dancing with everyone.

It's the one with the blue shirt and black pants...and the troll mask. The Vikings were dancing too.

It closed down around 5:00 pm I think so we walked back to Andrea's apartment. There's a playground by their apartment and this group of people kept whistling, we think they were trying to sound like birds. We called Matt to pick me and Ben up, and in the car he told us that when he was in his room he heard a knock on the door and there was a policeman there. The policeman asked him if he had been confronted by a man with a rifle. Matt was like, "....no..." then the policeman left. He said he saw two more police cars at one of our neighbors house. So we're thinking there's a guy out loose with a rifle going around. When my parents come home from their date I told them what Matt told us and my mom was like, "huh??" then my dad and Ben went outside to look around. Then our neighbor Dean told us what happened two days later. I can't remember every detail so I might get some of it wrong but this is what I heard.

The people who came to look at our house at 11:00 am had hung around till about 5:00 pm. I guess they were really interested in our house so they were going around all the neighbor's houses to see what they're like, and they would park in front of their driveways and just sit in the car and talk. They also watched the traffic to see how much we get, so my neighbor's started wondering who they were since they kept going around everywhere to everyones houses. The people didn't even tell our neighbor's that they were thinking of buying our house so the neighbor's had no idea who these people were. The people drove down this road called Wickwire Lane that is right by our house and would park there too. Well I guess they parked and could see my neighbor's backyard (Dean's) and they could see his wife Jennifer swimming in their pool. The people were looking everywhere and pointing and Jeniffer thought they were looking at her. She thought the woman in the car was a man because she had short guy hair, and she couldn't see them very well so she thought two guys kept looking at her. Jeniffer called her husband Dean over and said, "Dean, two guys keep looking at me" and Dean was holding a rifle because he was practicing by shooting clay pigeons. This is the part I don't quite remember but I think the people saw Dean with his rifle talking to Jeniffer and they got in his yard and yelled at him saying, "you have a rifle when there are teenagers in the pool?!" Dean told them it was his wife and he put the rifle away. The people were getting all mad at Dean and told him to get off the property and Dean was like, "look who's property you're on" then they stepped back cause they were on his. Then they threatened to take away his stuff like his tractor and they got their cell out to call the police. They told the police that Dean was waving his rifle around and aiming at them. I guess they didn't tell the police where Dean lived or even his name so the police just came in our area and asked Matt if he saw a guy with a rifle. So that's the whole story about the guy with the rifle lol. Funny huh?
When my dad was showing them around around 11:00 am he was telling the people how nice our neighbor's are, and they end up calling the police on them. We're like, "that's perfect" and laughed. So the people probably won't buy our house now cause they don't want to live with neighbor's like that. Oh well. At least Dean won't have to deal with them.

This is a really long post. Have fun reading it!

You weren't kidding with the whole "long post" thang. Good golly. I would love to go to the Scandanavian Festival. I've seen pictures before, and it looks like such fun.

Also, I absolutely, positively LOVE Ableskeevers (sp) They are SO yummy and scrumptious, I could eat them and eat them and eat them.

I totally missed the festival this year, but it was for a good cause! My two things to do there are get an Elephant Ear and a Sno Cone.

I didn't get the Sno Cone, but my Mom earned MOTHER OF THE YEAR AWARD for bringing me one after church while I recuperrated with Carson. Awe... ain't she a great Marmee?!

I LOVE the picture of Ben as the little girl. hee hee :-)

haha, still looks like a football helmet? Oh caddie....

that story about the rifle person was captivating and weird at first but I guess the irony about the 'nice neighboor' thing did make it funny, I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Glad to have gotten a peek at the Scandi festival since I've heard about it so many times over the years. Now I feel even more like a Junction City local.
